Our Funding is designed to help “JUMP START” your employment and educational opportunities. Grant funding is available through a variety of programs. The purpose of the Native American Jump Start Grant is to provide assistance to Native students and prospective employees who express a financial gap in their ability to participate in these programs.  These programs should provide relevant experience to their current field of study or employment experience. Please review the requirements and process to apply for funding.

APPLYING FOR GRANTS

Applying Is Easy! Here are requirements that must be met to qualify:

Requirement #1

Candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED certificate and prospective employees must have proof of an employment opportunity, or have received a job or internship offer.

Requirement #2

Prospective employees must be able to describe the financial gap associated with accepting their job offer or employment opportunity.

Requirement #3

Prospective employees must be enrolled in a federally recognized tribe and provide proof of tribal ID or CDIB

Requirement #4

Complete an application link below. The application will include basic demographic info and will require that you upload copies of your tribal ID or CDIB, an appropriate headshot, a short bio, and an essay of 250-750 words.

Requirement #1

Student must have a high school diploma or GED and must be currently pursuing higher education. We will consider applications from students enrolled in two or four-year programs, Technical or Trade Schools, Certificate Programs, Associates, Bachelors, Masters and PhD degree programs.

Your Process

Step 1

Fully complete the application, you must upload a copy of your Tribal ID or CDIB, an appropriate headshot, a short biography, and an essay (250-750 words).

Step 2

Upon receipt of your application, the NAJS Grants Coordinator will review your application and confirm receipt of a complete application or inform you that additional information is needed.

Step 3

Application will be reviewed by our independent grant review committee who will either approve or decline the funding request.

Step 4

Upon receipt of recommendation from Grant Committee - candidate will be notified with approval or decline for funding and will receive their grant confirmation letter and funding within four weeks of grant approval.

Typically within a month.

You will need to accept, sign and return the grant acceptance letter.

Q: If I am approved for funding, how will I receive the grant?

Answer:

Grants are generally provided by check and mailed to the address on your application. We can also ACH the funds.  To do so, please contact the grants coordinator.
